Community Action

We want to demonstrate God’s love, by meeting the practical and emotional needs of those living in Peterborough.

We run a series of initiatives, and partner with other organisations, to help improve the lives of those in our city. By offering food, clothing, furniture, friendship and prayer, we are fulfilling our mission to see lives transformed.

FoodBank Peterborough

Today in Peterborough there are families struggling to put food on the table. For people on low incomes, a sudden crisis - redundancy, benefit delay or even an unexpected bill - can mean going hungry. Every day parents skip meals to feed their children. Sometimes it’s a case of paying the rent or eating.

Peterborough Foodbank aims to bridge that gap by providing emergency food and support to people in crisis. It provides three days’ supply of non-perishable food upon presentation of a voucher from one of our registered referral agencies. A client may receive up to three vouchers per emergency crisis.

In addition to the practical support of a food parcel, the Foodbank volunteers take time to listen and signpost people to access further support to help deal with the underlying problem.

Peterborough Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust UK-wide Foodbank network. Local churches in Peterborough and the surrounding areas help by providing food donations, monetary gifts and volunteers.

Street Pastors

Peterborough Street Pastors is an inter-denominational project supporting those out on the streets or those enjoying, or working at night time venues. Their aim is to show God’s love in action on the streets, through caring, listening and offering prayer or practical help.

The street pastors go out in teams of four, from 10pm-4am every Saturday night. They will offer water to help with rehydration, flip flops to protect feet, or make calls to get someone home safely and offer a reassuring presence.
